Are Players Agents too Greedy?
Having just seen what happened with Milenkovic, and now rumours the Zouma deal is off due to Agents getting greedy

And get this one with....FFS, what a greedy cunt this so called "super" agent is!!! even wanted a salary for himself on top of his £34M fee........

This is why Haaland to Chelsea fell through

REVEALED: Mino Raiola 'demanded Erling Haaland was paid £820,000 PER WEEK to join Chelsea, with a £34m agent's fee AND a salary for himself in £257m package'

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9924965/Mino-Raiola-demanded-Erling-Haaland-paid-820-000-WEEK-join-Chelsea.html

Isnt it it about time the PL, FIFA reigned them in?

Robson,

Agree to a point, the final figure is the final figure.

However if the PLAYER is paying the fee it may stop the 'You are going here, not because they are the best fit or you are getting the best wage but because they are paying me the most'

At the moment the player just doesn't even have to think about the fact that someone with no football skill and whose only skin in the game is getting paid a large fee is shaping their, and the clubs future.

Just another way of looking at the same numbers though isn't it?

If the agent fee isn't paid separately it has to come out of the sale fee or wages, so those get pushed higher.

Any accountant will just add the numbers together, however they're broken down, and work out the total cost.

If the cost is prohibitive, the deal breaks down. Yes the agents are greedy but the money is there so it's innevitable.

Agents should be paid by players, not clubs. If I switch job, my accountant doesn't rock up and start demanding a cut.

If the player feels the need for an agent, it's them that should be paying the parasites. Agents should be banned from receiving direct proceeds from clubs in respect of transfers, or from being representative of 'both sides' of a transaction.

If a player gets a signing on fee and wants to throw a few million of that at an agent good luck to them. And if a club wants to pay some bloke to broker a deal on their behalf or a finder's fee then also fine.

But agents don't 'own' players, and clubs contract directly with players, so the only source of an agent's income should be from those that employ/engage them directly.

Ahh! The majority on this site would criticise Sullivan for giving in to agents then later on scream for him to pay up to get the deal done...

It's like they expect Rice to be a loyal player but then happily disrespect the most loyal of players in Mark Noble.

Antonio was never going to have enough skill to be a striker but now he's the best in PL.

It's the joy of always being right on a forum like WHO...

The majority on this site think Sullivan should pay whatever the agents want to get a deal over the line given the abuse aimed at him if he makes a stand.

Re: Are Players Agents too Greedy?
I think it's more that players are too lazy, thick as shit and probably lacking the patience and negotiation skills necessary. Very happy to offload the hassle to an agent for a percentage.

In fairness I'm sure in the past clubs were ripping off players left right and centre.

Do bears shit in the woods. Can't believe more footballers don't represent themselves . Pretty sure Gary Neville never had an agent parasites.

Agents are needed but have got too greedy. Doing one deal for a footballer should not make them millionaires.

It’s simple. Make it illegal for players agents getting paid by anyone other than the player. Simple!

Re: Are Players Agents too Greedy?
Personally I don't think agents should be allowed to have any involvement in negotiations with clubs. They could still make deals for their clients for sponsorship, ads, etc. but players would be represented by a rep for the FA of the club they're joining, who would know the salaries of all players and could negotiate based on the player's current salary, the average salary of the team he's joining, the player's position and proposed squad role. Wouldn't happen obviously.

Agents are a cancer in the game.

It's the club's fault for agreeing to this practice. Agents in the literary and tv & film world charge between 12.5 and 15% of the artist's wages. His employer has to pay fuck all.
